Spiderman was great. A real treat. I can’t remember the last time I went to the cinema, but I really enjoyed it. It was a little long, but that might have something to do with needing the toilet near the end!
Went to see Jess, Martin and baby Ben last night. He seems very well behaved and spends most of his time sleeping in his basket. They have both made their house look lovely which is a credit to all their hard work. I really must do some serious work to finish all our DIY projects. And also do some work to finish my essays, courses etc… I guess I’m still much too busy (as always)
It’s the centralairs concert tonight which would be good except my muscles all hurt. I joined the university sports centre and did some weight training for the first time in ages, and it was all good exercise, but man I am very stiff today.
We have booked a holiday to the resort of Sidari which should be quiet and restfully, so we are looking forward to that.

Busy, Busy, Busy. Allways busy. perhaps one day I will slow it all down, however for the time being it’s so much too do so little time.
I notice that Wet, Wet, Wet are having a tour in december, the first for 7 years. Sadly I have been denied access due to impending babies, however the corrs are also touring so I guess we might get to see them.
Got my boiler serviced for the first time since it’s installation. David Farrer is a top man, and I would recomend him for any plumbing work (although get in the queue becuase he is VERY busy). It was only £39.50, which I thought was excellent value.
Tonight we travel to preston to see Spiderman 2. I’m very hopefull for a good doo, especialy with such lovley female stars on show! I will let you know how it is.
Baby has been very active in the last few days which is good (or does it spell sleepless nights later). You can now see it moving through emmas skin (which is nice, I think!)

Wow. I have been working har today. Worked until 9:00pm and got Emma to pick me up. It was great to see the baby at the scan today. I got to see everything. Toes, hands, face legs etc.. It’s amazing how much we can see even though the baby is only 20 weeks old (if you go private you can even get a 3D scan in color, but I’m happy with the NHS version).
I have been working hard to compleate a course I am working on at work, and have now finished that but am still very busy writing and refining my 4500 word assignment.
It’s all fun. I have been managing myself much better this week (apart from missing a dentist’s appointment) I have been using my palm pilot again as an organiser and it seems to be working well. I think I have finally realised that the key to doing well is for me to organise myself better. Still cooking…. I can’t sustain this level of good deeds I will have to explode soon.
Hey.. Dont go to tokyo I hear its about to explode!

I have gone cooking crazy! It’s actually quite exciting. I decided that with Emma preganant we should eat some propper meals and I should learn (or at least practice) some cooking. So, armed with some Palm Pilot software to store recipies and shopping lists (called PDACookbook, which is incidently quite good) and some menu cards (made on my PC) we have launched into some propper eating. Aside from not knowing what blanching means (it is boiling some thing, in my case tomatoes, and then taking the skin off). I shall let you know how long I keep this fad up for!
There are loads of good internet sites with recipies so I should be ok on that front. My next major project is cinniman bread, so I will keep you posted on that one.

Heard some sad news today. Namley that Belle, Emmas cousins dog, had to be put down. I am more than a little sad, becuase we were quite close.
It seems silly, but sometimes people are sadder when pets and animals die than when human relatives do. Perhaps that says something about us as human beings, or perhaps I’m just looking too deep.
In other news, the University is to put up the price of car parking permits. It could be said that this is a result of our MSc studies (although that in most likley not true) but everyone seems to be blaming me anyway! At least scooters still park for free.
I am reading “A short history of almost everything” at the moment. It is one of the better Bill Bryson books in my opinion, and I would certainly recomend it. It reminds me of what a wonderfull and diverse world we live in and reassures me that there must be some “higher power” in charge. It it also ammusing that people find God so hard to accept, but readily accept some VERY strage quirks of quantum mechanics! but thats life I guess.

Writing essays is hard work. It’s really the writing part that is hard, I find I have a great number of ideas in my head but getting them down on paper is another matter altogether. I am currently writing my MSc essay contrasting new science methods, dealing with relationships at a subatomic level, with understanding of organisational change. It sounds quite complicated, but actually I have a good idea of where I want to go in my head. It’s just doing all the reading, backing up my ideas and actually writing the thing I’m having difficulty with. However I think I’ve made some progress today, at least in getting some books and journal articles. I just wish I didn’t leave everything to the last-minute.
If someone can find the technique to allow me to be a better self manager then I will instantly become 1000 times more productive. I just find it so hard to be proactive and to plan things well in advance. I also struggled to motivate myself. If essays were marked on what was in your head, then all would be well, however it’s a shame that this isn’t the case.

Hello, it seems to have been an eternity since my last blog entry. I guess my reasons for not updating the site more often are the same ones as usual, namely my MSc and other work and home commitments. I have been busy planning the group project presentation which we had to deliver to the estates department at the University and other key stakeholders regarding the car parking at Lancaster. Although it was time-consuming, it was also good fun although now they are starting to implement our recommendations, I have the potential to become the most hated man in the University!
As usual, I keep myself busy, and try to a sleep by relaxing with some DVDs. Additions to the Dixon collection this month include the excellent Simpsons season four, which is by far the best Simpsons released to date, with some great episodes such as the classic” Mr plough” where Homer sets up a business plowing driveways, only to be thwarted by Barney’s attempts to set up similar business. I am also reliving my childhood by watching the excellent “around the world with Willie Fogg“, which is educational as well as great fun. I also calculated that by the time the baby is born and will reach the last episode, and Willie Fogg with returned home.
On the subject of the baby, J. B. as he (or she) is affectionately known, is doing well. There are only two weeks ago to our next ultrasound and thus another picture, the baby has started kicking gently though I have yet to feel this. We had a slightly scary trip round Mothercare world where we saw the number and price of baby care products available, which was substantial. However, several people we know have offered us things, we should make the job equipping the house much easier. The baby is now 19 weeks old and according to much information, should be able to hear things from the outside, so to this end I have been talking to it, although whenever I put my hand on Emmas tummy, everything seemed to stop!
Our friends Jess and Martin had just given birth to their first child, a baby boy called Ben. He’s lovely, I was concerned that some babies look a bit ugly after birth, however no lying was required in this case. Here you can see a picture of the new baby, taken with a camera phone.
We shall be quizzing Martin and Jess over their experiences, as we will have to go through all this soon enough.
Sarah, Emmas sister has just heard that she has graduated from Lancaster University with a 2:1 degree in culture media and communications. She’s very pleased, and so we. I am attending her graduation ceremony on the 12th of July, and as a staff member at the University I will get to sit on the platform. This would be even more exciting if Princess Alexandra was there, however she only attends certain ceremonies and the morning ceremony is not one of them.
To conclude a busy month, or a least all of it I can remember, our friends Nigel and Sarah tied the knot at a church in Norfolk. Despite the five-hour drive, it was a very enjoyable event. Emma and I were involved in the worship band, which was interesting as the church was very traditional. The vicker started the service service by apologising for the music and stating that it might not work, hardly a vote of confidence! However, it was a big success and the wedding went well. There was also an excellent reception, with plenty of food and even a barbecue in the evening, a surefire success in my book.
We stayed in Norfolk with my Auntie and uncle, Michael and Mary, which was fantastic. It was great to see them and they made us very welcome.
I was also the official video for the wedding, and so I am now compiling my footage on the computer. Hopefully, I’ll be at producing a good DVDs for them, and is doing the wedding justice.
Wow, such a lot happened since I last wrote. I shall try not to leave it so long till the next time.
