Archive for August, 2004

A splendid evening was had with Jess and Martin. It’s lovley to see them and Ben, who is already looking bigger! He cried a lot when we were eating our tea, but I guess that it’s part of the course with babys.
Have been thinking about Christmas presents, specifically a watch. I really love quality watches and I have been very interested in perpetual calendar models which are mechanically amazing. I have been struggling with finding the right one, but I have found a citizen model which looks good and has all the functions I want. Here it is

Problem is, it is only available in the USA! Which means that I might need to import it. Anyway I am still thinking about it.. You can import them for a good price from here

I really do admire watches and clocks, perhaps one day I can own a real perpetual calendar pocket watch, but I fear they are too expensive.

Had some sad news about a family member this weekend. Don’t really know how to feel about it, its so difficult to deal with sickness. I find it hard to work out how the power of God (which is something I belive in) with the way that some people get ill and some don’t. However, I will continue to pray for the situation.

The baby is moving about loads, I’m sure it’s going to be a lot of trouble.

It’s almost over, no more olympics. I have really enjoyed watching it all, and I think that Team GB did very well. By then next Olympics I will be 33 and have a child that is almost 4 years old (or perhaps two children) thats an interesting thought. As I write (watching a James Bond) the baby is moving loads. Emma is much more tired latley and a lot bigger!
I have been having a lot of spyware problems on my computer latley, however I think that I may have fixed them all.

Next week promises to be very busy with MSc work, and I really need to finish lots of house DIY as the baby looms ever closer. Ah well, it’s all part of lifes rich tapestry.

Hey. I’ve jsut realised that my life plan is now 1/3 complete.
Step 1 – Have Child (in progress)
Step 2 – Have 2nd Child (not yet)
Step 3 – Have golden retriever (not yet)

This is excellent news. I was chatting to a guy at work about being a dad, and I am really looking forward to it. His child was 7 weeks early and weighed only 3 pounds, but all is well now.
We have chosen three girls names that we are fairly happy about, and I think will be three to take into the delivery room. They are Amy, Rachel and Caitlin all of which I like. Boys names however are proving to be a lot more difficult. Just have to hope it isn’t a boy!

We have been invited to new wine next year, which is a christian festival type thing. My mate duncan wants me to help with the radio which he did with a great deal of success last year. It would mean that we would take the baby, but our friends Jess and Martin would be going as well.

Work is difficult at the moment and I am looking at other jobs, realy only for interest and too see whats out their, but who knows. There is so much I want to do, I am constantly frustrated by it all.

Been a while…
A lady that I know at work called Lucy is leaving. I am a little sad about this, she will be a great loss. It’s strange that companys don’t seem to recognise the people that are good and reward them accordingly. It reminds me of the reasons I left the power station, because I was undervalued.
I was remembering my good “work experience” idea. I think that all adults at work, should have one weeks work experience doing something they would really like to do. Remeber work experience at school? How good was that, and I bet you can think of something to do. I personally would like to work in ASDA for a week, on the tills and doing the greeting.
I really feel like I need to try and write my childrens book when I have finished my MSc. It’s something that I have always thought about doing, so perhaps there is an oppotunity to do it.

Also, I have been invited to do the radio with my friend Duncan at new wine next year. I am really excited about it, but need to think about things and make sure I am not taking on too much. It’s all tricky.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, work gets in the way of all the good stuff in life. I am reading a challenging book that my brother leant me and it’s write. I want adventure not 9-5, and it’s getting me down a bit at the moment. Perhaps I should consider another job move soon, I’m certainly not happy with my lot, although it pays the bills. I think I have itcy feet, but also a lot of responsiblily to maintain and a child (soon) to support.

The baby is moving around in the big way. It is active lots of the time, and you can now see it kicking and moving from quite a distance away. It’s all exciting and part of lifes rich tapestry.
Hope this does not sound to depressed.. just busy I guess.

I could be doing something compleatly different in life, and probabbly be better used and much happier but will it ever happen, we will see!

What a fine evening of sport. So much to watch! Olympics and Word Cup friendlys.
Go england….

Well, what a weekend! A weekend of food. Two BBQ’s in one weekend is very good for fun, but not for
a) My weight
b) My bottom (which is suffering today… along with everyone else!)

I am really enjoying the olympics, especially the more unusual events that I dont normaly watch. Full marks to the BBC for their excellent interactive service.
Work is busy but good. Beatboxing is still in progress. Tomorrow I am having a rest from my MSc work to do some golf, although I hav’nt played for ages so I will be very poor :-(

Here’s a thought. Which country has the best national anthem? I don’t think
it’s the U.K. The olympics is making me wonder. I think the USA is a fine one,
with great words and a good tune. What do you think? Drop me a line!

Great day today! Worked out a work schedule with my ever helpfull wife which should mean that I keep busy and get all my MSc work done. It seems that from now until October there is a huge amount of work to do and then not as much, but thats probabbly not really the case, it’s just me being rubbish!
Went to a fun BBQ at marsha and daves which was great and I got to play football with all the Kids. Also got some good baby names.
Then, the Olympics which was 3m womans springboard syncro, an event I didnt know existed, but a very entertaining one none the less, UK just missed out on a bronze.

Finally, we are now watching the Lion King, which I hav’nt seen for a long time, and is a real classic of disney animation (before it all went bad)

Disaster! Missed the opening ceremony for the games, which I understand to have been quite a spectacle. I belive that they flooded the stadium with water and then got rid of it for the rest of the stuff, but I cant find it anyware. You would have thought that it would have been repeated on some latenight kind of TV special, or even on the BBCi coverage but no. I also missed the news so no luck there. Still never mind.
Sarah has a new job at the university so I have been celebrating that which was lovley.

Still far too busy, hopefully I can crack off some work this weekend.
Beatbox still in progress!

Hey check this out. It’s some serious beat boxing. I have been trying out some sounds and have the 808 snare and closed high hat down, struggling with some other stuff!
Great night a Jess and Martins. I have been made a godparent to ben, which I am very pleased with.
I have also learned that I will be a best man to Mr David Bowers! which is also some great news.
Later…

I have decided that I want to learn to beatbox! It is such a cool trick. If anyone knows of any cool web resources then let me know.
I found this site http://www.humanbeatbox.com/tutorials/video/
It has videos to help you to learn!
