Hello.
Been a while again! Have added some new picures of james to the gallery. Here is a sample of him playing with his piano.

He just loves that piano! I hope I am not conditioning him to a career path.
Had angela round last night which was really nice. She played with James and told us all the gossip. Perhaps she will have a baby some day, hopefully, she will be a good mum.
I almost did the most stupid thing the other day. I am applying for a new mortgage and I needed to send some proof of ID and I thought my passport would be good. Just before I went to post it I mentioned to Lee (in my office) that I was sending it off, and he reminded me that I was going to Italy next week and might need it! Duhhh… what a fool
If you hav’nt seen the incredibles yet then do, or even better buy the DVD. And whilst i’m on the subject of DVD shopping, dont forget to always use the following website to check the cheepest one.
I get cross when people buy DVD’s and CD’s from the high street when you can get them from CDWOW or other places. Anyway you can check all the DVD prices at:

What else has been happening. Well, I’ve been enjoying James. He is best in the morning when he is not tired, but lovely most of the time.
Next week I am going to Italy for a conference, but I dont even understand the agenda, so all will be bad.
I will try and update this a bit more regually.

What a day! Signed up for a new mortgage, fixed my scooter and shared some quality time with James. Fixing the scooter was a nightmare, it is VERY VERY hard to disassemble the exhaust on my scooter when all the bolts are rusty. In the end we just changed the main exhaust pipe, but will still have made a great saving (ha ha, not really a saving cos the exhaust might not have blown up) over the garage. I got the parts from this brilliant place on the web which you can get most parts from and they deliver to your door next day, fab!
The new mortgage should be sorted out in a couple of weeks and that will mean that the money is ready for the DIY work, which will make it feel like things are happening. I also opened a web saving account with a great rate of interest (5.35%). If you want to do the same then the alliance and leister is the boy for the job, sign up here.
James was brilliant today. We had several really nice times together where he was smiling and laughing at me. I will miss him next week when I am away, and I hope he wont forget the good times we had.
Although my time off work has not been entirely good today made up for it and I feel a lot better about things. The chance to sort out lots of finances has also been really good news. Hopefully I can keep it up.

Just took the plunge and switched our gas and electric to a new supplier. You can goto www.uswitch.com and it will tell you how much you can save, then you can switch online. According to them we can save about £80 a year, so we will see. I was reading an article saying that there is no reward for loyalty nowadays and that you should switch around to save some money.
I also read an artice about how to pay your mortgage off in 5 years and save thousands of pounds. Basically you need to raise £32 a day (for the average mortgage). So the electricity savings are two of those days!
Of course it could all go badly wrong, but will keep you posted.

Sleepy… that seems to be an enduring emotion these days. As I write James is almost asleep after a very long and very pained crying session. He seems to have mastered the sleeping after 11pm game, but in the evenings he still wants to stay up with Mum and Dad. This is OK i suppose, but he really should go to bed at 7:30pm in my opinion, and then Mum and Dad can have an easy night. I suppose at only 9 weeks old we can’t complain that much about this minor issue, and perhaps it’s too early to be putting him down in the evenings anyway. He is just so amazingly alert and needs to look at everything even at the expence of going to sleep. I think he gets overstimulated with everything around and then can’t get off however I could be wrong.
I am well busy, but seem to still spend half my life wasting time. It was great talking with a friend today and holding each other to account for what we are doing with our lives. It’s worrying to think about what I will have achieved by the time I am 30, non that much in reality. Of course I will have earned some money and built up a stack of material possetions but in terms of actual impact on others not much. It’s a depressing kind of thought, but one that I seem to dwell on more often. There is so much that I would like to do. Climbing Kilimanjiro would be one, writing a novel or childrens book would be another.
I sometimes wonder if I am in the right job, but it’s difficult to do anything once you have build up your material (and marital!) world around you.
Anyway.. on the plus side, I bought an excellent photography book with really useful tips for using all the pro settings on my camera, so hopefully I can take some good shots and show you them. Now to find the time to actualy get out and experiment!
I have been wondering about reading to James. I think I will try and start this week, perhaps that will help him goto sleep, or perhaps it will just stimulate him even more.

Just realised. I didnt tell you that after my 7 day detox I lost a total of 11lb.
Not bad for a week, I guess my body must have just been full of all kinds of rubbish.
Anyway, I felt great and not even that hungry considering the small portion sizes. The idea of the diet is to eat lots of foods that release their energy slowly and thus avoiding lows caused by lack of sugar. After the 7 days (now) I am continuing to abide by the 10 principles for healthy eating in the book. I found the book realy usefull and certainly the best I looked at. The main criticism would be that it doesnt really tackle what to do with deserts, which I love.
You can find the book for yourself here.
